40 Days of Fasting

Our nation is about to elect a new leader…

Beginning Monday, September 1st the family here at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills will embark upon a 40-Day Fast. Throughout scripture from the Old Testament to the New Testament, God has seen fit to stir the hearts of His people in times of difficulty and crisis. Dear believers, before us is the challenge to seek God in prayer and through fasting that He might once again pour His Holy Spirit upon the Church and perhaps by His grace revive all those who believe in Him and renew our nation.

Please join me for an important Fasting Information Meeting on Sunday, August 31st at 4:00PM in the sanctuary. I’ll share details and answer any questions you may have about the fast. Visit: www.trumpetandtorch.org and click on the Proclaim Liberty icon in the upper right hand corner. Then click on “Login” and register (if you have not already done so). Once you’ve registered, log in and click on the Wellspring icon. We will use Wellspring as a daily devotional through our 40-day fast.

Women's Bible Study

Today, far too many men are Missing In Action. We want to change that trend, so that they may become husbands and fathers of excellence. Our desire is to make Men of Integrity and Accountability. If you are tired of living a defeated Christian life, come join us as we look at the challenges that face today’s men. Paul often uses military terms in referring to our Christian walk. In his letter to Timothy, he writes “No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” So let us not get caught up with the things of this world, but let us prepare ourselves for the battles ahead. - 2 Timothy 2:4

Back to School 101

As parents, we are guardians of our children. Like never before our children need to be prepared and equipped to deal with things in the school system that we never had to. Far too many of our children are being sacrificed to a secular, humanistic worldview that is very much anti-Christ and anti-Bible. It is for these reasons and many more that I am inviting all of you to our first annual “Back to School 101.” This gathering will allow us to help you present your child, your student, to the Lord’s safe-keeping. Let us stand with you to defend your child’s faith and witness for this new school year. Together we will dedicate them to the Lord in prayer at this very special gathering.

Back to School 101 Schedule

I would like to speak to all the children (at their age level) and pray with you for your children as they begin the new school year. Therefore, we have prepared things for your younger children to do while I share with your older children. You will only need to attend the sessions that apply to your family. I look forward to seeing you.

1st Period: Elementary
4:00 – 4:30PM Message & Prayer for Elementary children and their parents.

Break
4:30 – 4:45PM Elementary students move upstairs to Room W203.
If you do not have a Jr High, High School or College age child, your session has ended. If you have an older child, please bring your Elementary child to Room W203 to watch a movie while we speak specifically to the older children and teens.

2nd Period: Jr High
4:45 – 5:15PM Message & Prayer for Jr High students and their parents.

Break
5:15 – 5:30PM Jr High students move upstairs to the Jr High Room W200.
If you do not have a High School or College age child, your session has ended. If you have an older student staying for the next session; please send your Jr High student to the Jr High Room while we speak specifically to the High School and College group.

3rd Period: High School & College
5:30 – 6:00PM Message & Prayer for High School and College students and their parents.

Lessons from Lucy

Whether you were an avid “I Love Lucy” fan or not, Lessons from Lucy was one non-stop laugh after another. We played games watched hilarious TV clips and asked ourselves, “Is it really lying if I just tell little fibs and white lies?” The lessons we learned from Lucy are really about…what not to do!!

If you are wondering what all of this craziness is about, it’s just another one of our Fabulous Female Fellowships. Each of these special evenings is designed around just one goal: fellowship. We want all of you ladies to get more friendly with other women here at Calvary and to make new friendships. Sound like fun? Then keep an eye on your bulletin and make plans to join us when we unveil our next Fabulous Female Fellowship!

Citizenship Sunday

Every July, Calvary Chapel Chino Hills hosts Citizenship Sunday. For two Sundays we invite those in our community to come register to vote, fill out absentee ballot forms, and encourage them to exercise their right and privilege to vote in every election. The Watchmen, Family Research Council, ACT for America and RISE ministries all provided important information and answered questions to the many people who visited their tables. These ministries provide valuable insight and materials regarding the critical issues that are jeopardizing families, marriages, schools, and churches. As Christians and concerned citizens, won't you please get involved and make a difference in our community and nation.

July Fun, Fishing and Fellowship!

Our July 16th Fishing Trip out of Newport Landing was great! Besides enjoying the beautiful weather and fellowship of others from CCCH we hauled in a nice load of fish. 110 sea bass, 2 barracudas and 10 incidentals to be exact! These annual Twilight Fishing trips aboard the Patriot are always tons of fun for both experienced and inexperienced fishermen (and fisherwomen) alike. Plan to take a trip with us next summer!
